Park IP Translations Delivers Fast Turnaround Direct Filing Patent Translation
Park IP Translations provided an emergency direct filing patent translation to a leading law firm. All translations were delivered with exceptional levels of global teamwork and customer service to meet all set targets.
The Park IP team delivered an urgent patent application translation project containing over 45,000 words from English into Simplified Chinese within a 24-hour time period, working during the traditional Chinese Dragon Boat Festival in June 2016. Patent translation projects of this size typically take 30 days.
The client reached out to Park IP in China on a Saturday in June, which happened to be during the traditional Chinese Dragon Boat Festival national holiday. The client required translation of a large patent application from English into Simplified Chinese with delivery at 12 PM on Sunday to meet the patent filing deadline at the China patent office in Beijing.
Park IP Solution
The Park IP project management lead immediately assigned a senior internal translator located in Beijing to manage the translation.
Once translators had received the local counsel information, the title, claims and figures sections were prioritized and translated, followed by the patent specifications.
The client originally thought that the whole patent application had to be filed within the 24 hour deadline. Once the Park IP team had received the local counsel information and reviewed the scope of the project, the team advised the client that only the claims, title and figures sections had to be filed within 24 hours, with the more detailed specifications filed the next day.
Although the Park IP translation team had 48 hours to complete the whole project, the team still translated, proofed and reviewed all sections of the patent application to the necessary high quality standards within the initial 24 hour deadline. The patent was successfully filed within the set timescales.
All terminology was closely managed to ensure consistency through the whole patent application. Consistency of terminologies is key to guaranteeing translation quality and accuracy to meet the standards of direct filing at the China patent office in Beijing.
